3/24/2010 High Schools Raise $1,170 for Children's Miracle Network

 

EL PASO, TX – (March 23, 2010) – Rivals Coronado and Franklin High Schools came together on February 27  for a “Dance Marathon” to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network.  More than 100 students from Key Clubs at the two schools danced at the Holiday Inn Sunland Park from 4:00 p.m. until midnight. A check for $1,170 was presented to University Medical Center Foundation’s Children's Miracle Network Advisory Council. All funds raised stay in El Paso to provide life-saving medical care, research, and education for seriously ill and injured children at University Medical Center of El Paso. 

 

Three popular high school rave bands played in addition to the rave music of Nostalgia + Plus Discoteque, all of whom donated their talent.  The Coronado and Horizon City Kiwanis groups contributed to the event's expenses and provided chaperones. Holiday Inn Sunland Park, Papa John's Pizza, Albertson's, and Sam's Club provided in-kind contributions.

 

Key Club is the high school division of Kiwanis, a civic organization supporting charitable children’s causes.  Children’s Miracle Network is an alliance of 170 hospitals providing critical medical care, research, and education for children ages birth to 18 years with life-threatening illnesses and injuries.

 

University Medical Center Foundation of El Paso serves as the charitable 501(c)(3) for University Medical Center of El Paso, the El Paso Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network.
