Welcome to our first edition of our newsletter for University Medical Center and El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation. We are launching in trying times yet we feel we want to speak to you, our loyal supporters, donors, friends, associates, patients and volunteers. My name is Estela Casas, Executive Director of the Foundation. I look forward to meeting each of you, but for now, we will communicate here, through emails and social media during the COVID-19 pandemic and how it’s challenging us to engage in social distancing and avoid emotional distancing. The Foundation is dedicating this issue to a new funding vehicle that will help patients, healthcare workers and our community. It is the Foundation’s COVID-19 Compassionate Care Fund. You will read more about this below. We are also dedicating this issue to ways you can do your part to stop the spread of the coronavirus and embrace a new normal.
Thank you for your support and friendship.

FOUNDATION IMPLEMENTS INITIATIVE FOR PATIENTS, HEALTHCARE WORKERS AND FAMILIES IN NEED
University Medical Center Foundation has launched COVID-19 Compassionate Care Fund to help meet the growing needs of the two hospitals the Foundations serve.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, there is little room for funding new services or purchasing much equipment,” said Estela Casas, Executive Director of UMC and El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation. “If you’ve ever considered donating to help UMC, now is the time. Never has your contribution been so desperately needed, and never before has the dollar you give had the potential to make such an enormous impact on all of us.”
The COVID-19 Compassionate Care Fund is prepared to fight its biggest collective battle of a lifetime by providing help and support to the:
• Basic needs such as food, clothing, medical supplies, toiletries and transportation to patients and families requiring medical attention.
• Monetary help to challenged and vulnerable patients to cover healthcare costs such as medical assistance, co-pays and other needs related to COVID-19.
• Purchase of supplies, equipment or program needs at both hospitals related to COVID-19.
• The caregivers’ needs from COVID-19.
