Attendees will also hear powerful testimonials from stroke survivors and families, highlighting personal journeys of resilience, hope, and healing.

Maggie Whittum is a filmmaker, theatre artist, disability advocate, public speaker and stroke survivor at age 33. She won a True West award for her performance in the world-premiere immersive experience ‘Theater of the Mind’, co-created by David Byrne and produced by the Denver Center. She often acts with the ‘disability-affirmative’ Phamaly Theatre Company, which exclusively casts disabled actors.
Maggie is executive producing and co-writing a feature length documentary film 'The Great Now What', about resilience in the aftermath of a major health crisis. 'The Great Now What' is an empowering and life affirming film that humanizes the experience of stroke, disability and chronic pain. Learn more about The Great Now What .
Maggie has presented her medical story at Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, National Rehabilitation Hospital, the American Physical Therapy Association, Stroke Onward, UMROI, the University of Colorado Medical School, and Craig Hospital among others.
Maggie is a 3x Disability Belongs (formerly RespectAbility) Entertainment Fellow, a participant with Lights! Camera! Access! and a member of FWD-DOC (Documentary Filmmakers With Disabilities). Maggie uses a cane to walk and lives with facial paralysis, visual impairments and chronic pain. Maggie is a graduate of Colorado College.
