El Paso Health Supports Car Seat Safety Program with $60,000

The University Medical Center Foundation of El Paso, in partnership with El Paso Health, celebrated another year of the El Paso Health Car Seat Safety Program with a generous $60,000 sponsorship from El Paso Health.

The announcement took place during National Child Passenger Safety Week at a special event hosted by El Paso Health. The event featured a check presentation, remarks from community leaders, and live demonstrations of safe car seat installations by certified technicians. Representatives from El Paso Health, University Medical Center, and the UMC Foundation were in attendance.

Why Car Seat Safety Matters

Motor vehicle crashes remain one of the leading causes of injury and death among children. While car seats can reduce fatal injuries by more than 50%, research shows that nearly 75% of car seats are not installed correctly.

The El Paso Car Seat Safety Program addresses this urgent need by providing families with free car seats and hands-on installation training. Since its inception, the program has helped thousands of families across El Paso ensure their children ride safely and securely.

El Paso Health’s Impact

El Paso Health’s $60,000 sponsorship made it possible to continue and expand this life-saving program in its 12th year.

“El Paso Health’s support is vital to the success of this program,” said Carolyn Williams Program Director of Community Programs from UMC Foundation. “Their generosity provides families with the resources and education needed to keep their children safe. This gift has a direct and lasting impact on our community.”

El Paso Health has been a champion of car seat safety, showing its deep commitment to protecting children and supporting families in the region.

A Safer Future for El Paso

The UMC Foundation’s mission is to strengthen community health by bringing critical resources to families. Thanks to El Paso Health’s partnership, the Car Seat Safety Program continues to give parents peace of mind and children the safest possible start in life.

During National Child Passenger Safety Week, this event served as a powerful reminder that every properly installed car seat helps prevent tragedy and that together, local organizations can make El Paso’s roads safer for its youngest residents.
