The University Medical Center Foundation of El Paso proudly hosted a Naming Rights Ceremony to honor a remarkable $100,000 philanthropic gift from Dr. Moeen Abedin, Director of Electrophysiology at University Medical Center of El Paso.
This transformational philanthropic gift will endow the naming rights of UMC’s Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory, which will henceforth be known as the Zainul and Karuna Abedin Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory. The newly named lab honors Dr. Abedin’s beloved parents and celebrates their legacy of compassion, service, and excellence.
“This gift is a deeply personal expression of gratitude, rooted in family and in the healing mission we all share,” said Dr. Abigail Tarango, Executive Director of the UMC Foundation of El Paso. “Dr. Abedin’s generosity will benefit countless patients and reflects the powerful role that philanthropy plays in shaping the future of healthcare in our community.”
The event included remarks from UMC and Foundation leadership, followed by a formal unveiling of the naming plaque. Guests were also given a guided tour of the Electrophysiology Lab, which plays a critical role in diagnosing and treating complex heart rhythm disorders.
