On Saturday, April 5, 2024, the University Medical Center Foundation of El Paso hosted its highly anticipated Pearls & Prohibition: A Roaring Good Time event at the Epic Railyard. The sold-out evening, attended by 450 guests, was a resounding success, raising an impressive $250,000 to support trauma care programs at the University Medical Center's Scherr Legate Level I Trauma Center.
The event transported attendees back to the glamorous 1920s, with an elegant atmosphere that set the tone for an unforgettable evening. Guests enjoyed a selection of delicious fare, and live music by Ray Colao and The Colao Show Band kept the crowd dancing and entertained, perfectly complementing the event’s roaring 20s theme.
Special guests and speakers at the event included influential community leaders such as Jacob Cintron, CEO of the El Paso County Hospital District; Congresswoman Veronica Escobar; and El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego, among others. Their presence added a significant layer of support and encouragement for the evening’s mission, as they highlighted the importance of enhancing trauma care and recognizing the heroic efforts of first responders and healthcare professionals.
