Radiology & Imaging
Our State-of-the-Art Equipment Identifies Cancers Faster and Removes Anxiety Sooner.
A wide spectrum of imaging modalities are found in Radiology utilizing state-of-the-art equipment to provide comprehensive service for Ultrasound, CT scan, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, and Cardiac Cath/Interventional Radiology Services.
Our Radiology department showcases its state-of-the-art technology to healthcare professionals from across the nation. Radiology Services provide state-of-the-art Radiologic and Diagnostic Imaging Services that are patient-centered and accessible to physicians and staff. The Radiology department is accredited by the Joint Commission and Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JACHO), Texas Bureau of Radiation Control, and other regulatory agencies. The Department operates 24/7 for in-patients and the Emergency Department.
All technologists are certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) and Texas Medical Radiologic Technologists. The Ultrasound department has been awarded Gold Seal Accreditation by the American College of Radiology. Ultrasound personnel undergo a comprehensive review to earn accreditation status by the American College of Radiology (ACR), the largest and oldest imaging accrediting body in the U.S. and a professional organization of 34,000 physicians.
The iLab is one of the region's most advanced pieces of medical equipment and giving doctors a three-dimensional view inside a patient's body. This allows for the precise removal of clots as well as enhancing blood flow and circulation throughout the body and better utilization in cardiology, neurology, and radiology.
Another advancement in breast cancer diagnosis capacity is the Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT), known as 3D mammography that allows an advanced technology in breast imaging due to the X-ray tube's ability to move during the exposure and acquiring multiple images from different angles. The benefits of DBT allow early detection of cancer and an ability to improve the identification between benign and cancerous abnormalities. This means less anxiety and expense in requiring additional appointments. Diagnostic Radiology and Mammogram screening services are included at UMC-Northeast.
